The Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be crucial in enhancing deployment processes, improving the CI/CD pipeline, and ensuring the smooth operation of production environments. Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and maintaining system documentation.
- Participating in an on-call rotation to resolve system issues.
- Supporting multiple IDEXX development teams.
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable infrastructure using cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Developing and enhancing CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitoring and optimizing system performance and security.
- Implementing and maintaining infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Mentoring junior team members.
Location and Work Environment
This position offers flexibility: it can be based at the Westbrook, Maine HQ on a hybrid basis, or 100% virtual/remote for candidates outside of Maine. Note that the role requires availability during East Coast US workday hours (8-5 Mon-Fri).
What You Need to Succeed
- 5+ years of DevOps experience.
- In-depth knowledge of DevOps principles and systems administration.
- Knowledge of Linux platforms and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency with application servers (WebLogic Server experience required).
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash).
- Familiarity with software development processes in a hybrid-cloud environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- A keen eye for system hardening and configuration management.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base annual salary target: $100,000 – $120,000 (with flexibility).
- Annual cash bonus opportunity.
