Animalz is hiring a freelance Developmental Content Editor to review and improve B2B SaaS content produced by its in-house and freelance writers. This is a fully remote opportunity open to professionals located across the Americas or EMEA.
Animalz is a content marketing agency working with B2B SaaS companies, venture capital firms, and other technology organizations. Its remote team develops content and strategies designed to support sustainable organic growth, thought leadership, and broader business objectives.
As a Developmental Content Editor, your primary responsibility will be reviewing content for substance, structure, strategic alignment, and overall effectiveness. Most assignments involve long-form B2B technology content, including blog posts, ebooks, guides, SEO content, and content designed for emerging AI-search environments through AEO and GEO practices.
Editors may also occasionally review shorter formats such as LinkedIn content and landing-page copy.
This role sits between writers and copyeditors. Although you should be comfortable making line-level edits, the primary focus is developmental editing: determining whether an article successfully executes its brief, supports the client’s business goals, addresses the intended audience, and presents its ideas in a logical and effective structure.
You will provide writers with actionable feedback ranging from high-level structural recommendations to specific inline edits. Feedback should clearly explain why changes are necessary while maintaining a constructive and respectful editorial relationship.
Editors are assigned to a defined group of customers, allowing you to develop deeper knowledge of each company’s products, audience, brand, and content strategy. This context should inform your editorial decisions rather than evaluating every article in isolation.
Candidates should have experience writing and editing B2B technology content, particularly long-form formats such as articles, guides, ebooks, and similar materials.
A working understanding of SEO and AEO/GEO practices is required. Expert-level search optimization knowledge is not necessary, but candidates should understand the fundamentals and how they affect content quality and discoverability.
The position also requires strong editorial judgment, the ability to quickly understand unfamiliar companies and industries, familiarity with B2B technology and content-marketing trends, and the ability to provide clear and actionable writer feedback.
Experience working internally at a B2B technology company, developing content strategies, or managing, mentoring, or coaching writers is advantageous.
This is a freelance position requiring approximately 5–10 hours per week. Workload may vary, and editors are expected to return assigned edits within one business day.
Compensation is $65 USD per hour.
