Senior Editorial Software Community Manager (Editor-in-Chief)

C4Media Inc. is hiring a Senior Editorial Software Community Manager (Editor-in-Chief) to lead technical editorial strategy for InfoQ. This is a full-time remote contractor opportunity for candidates located in eligible parts of Europe, Africa, or South America, specifically between GMT-3 and GMT+2.

C4Media operates an international, remote-always team and publishes technical content for the professional software-development community through InfoQ while also operating QCon and related software conferences.

As Editor-in-Chief, you will help determine which technologies, engineering practices, and emerging software trends InfoQ covers. The position combines technical editing, content development, editorial leadership, community engagement, and team management.

You will develop and acquire technical content designed to help software professionals understand important changes and innovations across the industry. Responsibilities include reviewing technical articles, providing constructive and actionable feedback to authors, and helping practitioners transform their expertise into high-quality published content.

You will coordinate and mentor InfoQ’s editorial team and contribute to its continued development. The role also involves exploring new topics, editorial channels, and online experiences that can improve how InfoQ serves its technical readership.

Candidates need a strong technical background in an area such as software development or engineering, systems/network/database administration, business analysis, or software quality assurance.

Demonstrable technical-writing experience is required. Candidates must be able to provide a list of previously published technical articles as part of their candidacy.

The position requires a strong understanding of emerging software trends, excellent written and spoken English, familiarity with remote collaboration tools and practices, and the ability to work independently in a high-autonomy virtual environment.

Candidates must reside in Europe, Africa, or South America within time zones GMT-3 through GMT+2 and must be able to work online hours overlapping with 9:00 AM–1:00 PM U.S. Eastern Time.

This is a full-time contractor position.

International travel is a material requirement. Candidates need a valid passport and must be able to travel internationally, including to the United States and United Kingdom. The employer expects approximately 3–5 trips per year, generally lasting 5–8 days each, for software conferences and company meetings. C4Media states that it covers these travel expenses.

Candidates also need reliable high-speed internet with at least 25 Mbps download and 6 Mbps upload, together with a suitable newer computer.
