Lead Copywriter – Brand Voice & Messaging (US Remote)
Kindred is hiring a Lead Copywriter to define its brand voice and own copy across paid, owned, lifecycle, social, product, and other customer touchpoints. This is a full-time remote position within the United States and will be Kindred’s first in-house copywriting hire.
Reporting to the Head of Growth, you will combine hands-on writing with brand strategy, developing the narrative frameworks, voice guidelines, review processes, and standards that help Kindred communicate consistently as the company grows.
Job Overview
The Lead Copywriter will centralize Kindred’s copywriting function, establish a distinctive brand voice, write and review customer-facing copy, manage external copy partners, and ensure that product, growth, lifecycle, social, and marketing communications share a consistent narrative.
Key Responsibilities
- Own copy execution across Kindred’s business and write or review customer-facing copy.
- Establish and evolve Kindred’s brand voice and tone guidelines.
- Ensure communications across different channels consistently reflect Kindred’s voice.
- Translate complex concepts and leadership messaging priorities into clear, consistent language.
- Develop narrative frameworks that can work across multiple customer and marketing channels.
- Centralize the copywriting function and establish appropriate quality-assurance and review processes.
- Provide oversight and direction to agency partners producing copy for Kindred.
- Partner with Product Marketing and Integrated Marketing on positioning and launch messaging.
- Work with Lifecycle Marketing on member communications.
- Collaborate with Creative, Social, and Performance Marketing on campaign execution.
- Work with Product on in-product copy and customer experiences.
- Maintain consistency between channels including push notifications, email, website copy, paid advertising, social content, and product messaging.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of copywriting experience.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong on-brand copy execution and the strategic thinking behind the work.
- Experience owning brand voice and messaging for a consumer brand.
- Experience building or significantly evolving a voice and tone guide used by other team members.
- Experience managing freelance writers or agency relationships.
- Ability to brief, review, and improve work produced by external copy partners.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across Product, Growth, and Creative teams.
- Ability to translate strategy into clear language without losing important nuance.
- Self-directed working style and ability to make progress without requiring a fully staffed team or polished brief.

Compensation

- Zone B – Other U.S. locations: $115,000–$140,000 USD per year.
