Principal Product Manager – Apache Flink (US Remote)
Confluent is hiring a Principal Product Manager to own the complete product strategy and execution for Apache Flink across Confluent Cloud and Platform. This is a remote position within the United States and a high-leverage individual contributor role.
You will define the multi-year Flink strategy, identify new product opportunities, align technical and commercial stakeholders, and help determine how Confluent’s Flink offerings work across the broader Confluent and IBM product portfolio.
Job Overview
The Principal Product Manager will lead strategy and execution for Apache Flink across Confluent’s cloud and platform offerings. The role requires deep product leadership in complex technical environments, strong distributed-systems and cloud knowledge, and the ability to operate independently across product, engineering, go-to-market, and executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive the multi-year product strategy and roadmap for Apache Flink across cloud and on-premises products.
- Own product strategy and execution across a complex and highly technical platform domain.
- Establish structured processes that align Product, Engineering, go-to-market teams, and executive stakeholders.
- Identify high-leverage 0-to-1 product opportunities for Flink.
- Explore adjacent product opportunities across AI, data engineering, data warehousing, and event-driven applications.
- Define how Confluent’s Flink offerings work across the Confluent and IBM product portfolio.
- Translate complex technical systems and customer requirements into clear product strategy.
- Build durable platform capabilities that support customers ranging from data engineers to software developers.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of product management experience for technical software or cloud service products.
- Proven ability to own and deliver product strategy for complex cloud data products.
- Experience developing products for technical customers including data engineers and software developers.
- Deep technical expertise in distributed systems, data engineering, and cloud technologies.
- Experience leading product development throughout the complete product lifecycle.
- Experience scaling businesses from early product-market fit to substantial revenue.
- Ability to operate independently within an ambiguous and highly technical product domain.
- Ability to translate complex technical systems into clear product strategy and priorities.
Additional Relevant Expertise
Domain expertise with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Flink, or Spark is considered a plus but is not required.
