Senior Software Engineer – Full Stack, AI Platform (US Remote)

Collaboration.Ai is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build and ship features across the full NetworkOS technology stack, from Kotlin and Spring Boot microservices to Next.js and React interfaces. This is a full-time remote position requiring U.S. citizenship.

You will work on a small, senior engineering team with end-to-end ownership of production features, including database schemas, backend services, APIs, frontend interfaces, testing, reliability, and AI-assisted development.

Job Overview

Company: Collaboration.Ai

Employment Type: Full-time

Work Arrangement: Remote

Experience Level: Senior / Experienced

Experience: 5+ years

Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required

Compensation: Not specified

The Senior Software Engineer will own complete vertical slices of Collaboration.Ai’s NetworkOS platform, spanning PostgreSQL, Kotlin services, GraphQL and REST APIs, Next.js interfaces, infrastructure, testing, observability, and production delivery. The role is backend-weighted while requiring meaningful production frontend capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver features end to end across PostgreSQL schemas, Kotlin services, GraphQL contracts, and Next.js user interfaces.
  • Own complete vertical product slices and ship production functionality without relying on cross-team handoffs.
  • Design and maintain GraphQL and REST APIs with clear domain boundaries.
  • Maintain API and service performance, reliability, and low latency as platform usage grows.
  • Design PostgreSQL schemas and optimize database queries for scale.
  • Manage zero-downtime database migrations using Liquibase.
  • Develop effective application and data caching strategies.
  • Build comprehensive unit, integration, contract, and UI test suites targeting 80%+ test coverage.
  • Use CI/CD quality gates to identify problems before production deployment.
  • Build resilient systems using structured logging, distributed tracing, custom metrics, circuit breakers, and graceful degradation patterns.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews, architectural discussions, and pair programming.
  • Build agentic development primitives that make everyday full-stack engineering work more efficient.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Backend-weighted engineering background with meaningful production frontend contributions.
  • Strong proficiency with Kotlin and Spring Boot, or Java and Spring with willingness to adopt Kotlin.
  • Working proficiency with TypeScript and React, with the ability to ship UI functionality within an established design system.
  • Experience with Next.js is relevant to the role’s frontend stack.
  • Solid Python experience and familiarity with modern frameworks; FastAPI is preferred.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, relational database design, and database migration management.
  • Proven experience working in continuous delivery environments with automated testing.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
  • Strong understanding of microservices patterns, API design, and distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar agentic development tools.
  • U.S. citizenship due to DoD contracting, IL4/IL5 environments, and FedRAMP compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing GraphQL APIs and designing schemas at scale.
  • Experience with LLM and AI integration patterns, including structured outputs and LLM workflow orchestration.
  • Experience with security-conscious software development and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, NIST 800-171, or NIST 800-53.
  • Deep experience with AWS services including EKS, RDS, S3, and Secrets Manager.
  • Experience with DataDog observability.
  • Greater Twin Cities, Minnesota location.
  • Open-source contributions or active participation in technical communities.

Technology Stack

  • Backend: Kotlin, Spring Boot, Ktor, Gradle
  • APIs: GraphQL with Netflix DGS, REST, OpenAPI
  • Frontend: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Turborepo, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui
  • Data: PostgreSQL, Liquibase, Kafka, DynamoDB, Amazon S3
  • AI Integration: Python, FastAPI, LLM-powered services
  • Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS EKS, Helm, ArgoCD
  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Codecov, Snyk
  • Observability: DataDog, OpenTelemetry
  • Security: AWS KMS, AWS Secrets Manager, Auth0

AI-Native Development

Collaboration.Ai describes AI-assisted engineering as part of its normal development workflow rather than a separate initiative. Engineers are expected to use agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar technologies to accelerate development while maintaining engineering quality.

The company’s engineering environment also includes agent SDKs and harnesses, MCP servers, and Agent Skills standards.

Security & Compliance Environment

Collaboration.Ai develops software for defense, healthcare, and other regulated environments. Its work includes SOC 2 and NIST compliance and FedRAMP readiness.

U.S. citizenship is explicitly required for this position because of DoD contracting, IL4/IL5 environments, and FedRAMP compliance.

This position is listed as Remote and Full Time. Collaboration.Ai is based in Minnesota and describes its workforce, partners, and customers as distributed across multiple locations.

The supplied listing does not state specific eligible U.S. states or required time zones. Being based in the Greater Twin Cities, Minnesota area is listed as a preferred qualification rather than a requirement.
