U.S. Senate Seeks Manager for Conservation and Preservation
The United States Senate is looking for a skilled Manager to oversee the Conservation and Preservation Office. This role offers a salary range of $89,961 to $139,434.
About the Role:
This position involves a mix of conservation, bookbinding, and craftsmanship. The manager will be responsible for maintaining the Senate’s collection of historic books, prints, photographs, and documents. The role also includes assisting with exhibit planning and creating custom presentation materials for Senate officials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise staff and operations of the Conservation and Preservation Office.
- Manage customer work requests and establish office procedures.
- Prepare budget requests and monitor expenses.
- Serve as a liaison to the Government Printing Office for binding requests.
- Perform book repair and conservation work.
- Create presentation materials and assist with exhibit installations.
- Maintain knowledge of emergency action plans.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma with advanced skills in bookbinding, matting, and picture framing.
- Completion of a bookbinding apprenticeship or a rare book and conservation training program.
- Knowledge of Library Binding Institute standards and book conservation techniques.
- Supervisory and budgeting skills.
- Ability to operate related equipment and tools.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
