The Senior Quality Engineer will own and evolve automated testing across LawnStarter’s web and mobile products, integrate quality controls into engineering workflows, strengthen CI/CD test infrastructure, lead root-cause investigations, and improve release quality across the marketplace platform.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering experience.
• Experience building automated testing frameworks.
• Experience maintaining test-automation frameworks in production engineering environments.
• Experience with tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or comparable automation technologies.
• Experience testing production web applications.
• Experience testing mobile applications.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of how automated testing should integrate with continuous integration and delivery workflows.
• Experience working with a marketplace, two-sided platform, or similarly fast-moving startup environment.

Release Quality & CI/CD

A central responsibility of this position is increasing confidence in software before it reaches LawnStarter customers. The Senior Quality Engineer will help integrate automated checks directly into engineering and delivery workflows rather than treating QA as a separate final-stage activity.

You will also strengthen the testing infrastructure within LawnStarter’s CI/CD pipelines so defects and regressions can be detected earlier and releases can move forward with stronger evidence of quality.

Web & Mobile Quality

The role covers both web and mobile products. Candidates should therefore have practical experience testing production applications across both environments rather than specializing exclusively in browser-based testing.

Automated coverage should evolve alongside the product and focus on the workflows and failure conditions that matter to customers and marketplace operations.

Production Issues & Root-Cause Analysis

When production defects occur, the Senior Quality Engineer will help lead root-cause investigations and coordinate with relevant teams to understand what failed and why.

The objective is not only to resolve individual incidents but also to close the feedback loop by improving tests, development practices, or quality controls so similar failures are less likely to recur.

Engineering Quality Leadership

This role is expected to influence quality beyond the QA function. You will work directly with engineering pods and coach software engineers on test design, automated coverage, and earlier consideration of edge cases.

The position therefore combines hands-on test automation with broader quality-engineering leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
