Job Overview

As a Software Developer, you will contribute to applications that help Canadians understand and manage their credit and financial options. You may work on shared frontend systems, backend services, mobile applications, identity management, or customer-facing financial products.

This position includes both new product development and ongoing platform improvements. You will help ensure that software is reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with business and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain web and mobile application features.
  • Build scalable software solutions for cloud-based products.

  • Develop backend services using .NET and Microsoft Azure where required.

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, QA professionals, and other engineers.
  • Participate in technical planning, architecture discussions, and systems design.
  • Improve application performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
  • Build reusable libraries, platform components, and shared engineering tools.
  • Take ownership of assigned features from planning through production release.

Required Qualifications

  • Practical experience building scalable web applications in a cloud environment.
  • Knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly React, React Native, or TypeScript, or strong backend development experience with .NET.
  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Understanding of software development, testing, debugging, and code maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional product teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment.
  • Physical residence in Ontario, British Columbia, or Alberta.
  • Ability to complete required credit and criminal background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of microservices or event-driven software architecture.
  • Experience with Next.js, Contentful, or another headless content management system.
  • Familiarity with Turborepo or monorepo development environments.
  • Previous experience in fintech, financial services, or a fast-growing startup.
  • Experience developing cross-platform web and mobile applications.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and paramedical coverage.
  • Virtual access to nurses, doctors, and mental health professionals.
  • Maternity and parental leave top-up.
  • Company-provided computer equipment and work-from-home reimbursement.
  • Annual professional development reimbursement.
  • One paid volunteer day each year.
  • Flexible working hours and vacation policy.
  • Remote-first work arrangement with occasional in-person meetings and team events.
