Role Overview

The Automotive Financial Underwriter will be a key contributor to the underwriting team in Manchester, assessing the creditworthiness of both personal and commercial vehicle financing applicants. This role requires balancing business growth with risk management while maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and external partners, ensuring clear communication and timely decision-making.

Primary Responsibilities

Credit Analysis & Decision Making

  • Conduct detailed financial assessments of commercial clients, reviewing statements, credit reports, business plans, and industry-specific data.
  • Make informed lending decisions aligned with company credit policy, risk appetite, and regulatory guidelines.

Dealer Support & Query Management

  • Respond to queries from Ford dealers regarding credit applications, lending policies, and processes via phone, email, and other communication channels.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (sales, operations, collections) and external partners (brokers, clients) to gather necessary information and communicate decisions effectively.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Ensure all underwriting activities meet legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within underwriting processes and policies.

Required Candidate Profile

Education & Qualifications

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field is desirable.

Experience & Skills

  • 0-5 years of experience in credit underwriting or financial analysis, ideally within automotive finance.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and key ratios to assess repayment capacity.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities and risk assessment skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
  • Close attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proactive, team-oriented, and adaptable to changing business requirements.

Work Arrangement
