Washington, D.C. – The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), a nonpartisan agency advising the U.S. Congress on Medicare policy, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Special Assistant/Scheduler to join their team. This full-time position in downtown D.C. offers competitive pay and excellent benefits within a collaborative work environment.

This exciting role provides a unique opportunity to work closely with MedPAC’s Assistant Director and executive staff, contributing directly to the agency’s crucial work. The successful candidate will manage all internal and external meeting schedules, playing a vital role in the smooth operation of the Commission. Responsibilities also include assisting in the communication of MedPAC’s findings to Congressional staff, producing a weekly staff newsletter, monitoring relevant press, and conducting health policy research on specific topics.

MedPAC is looking for candidates with exceptional oral and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to adapt to changing priorities. The ideal candidate will be adept at coordinating calendars across multiple stakeholders, assisting with public meeting logistics, prioritizing tasks effectively, and proactively solving problems. Strong analytical skills are also essential, with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate research findings in writing. The role requires good judgment, tact, and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Eligibility: Candidates should be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program with expected graduation by June 2025 in fields such as political science, public policy, public health, journalism, or communications. Experienced candidates are also encouraged to apply. Availability to start work in the summer of 2025 and commit to the position for at least two years is desired.

Work Environment: This position is based in downtown Washington, D.C., requiring in-office work three days per week with flexibility for additional in-person events. MedPAC offers telework flexibility for two days per week and other times as needed.
