Senior Full Stack Engineer

About the Opportunity

Toggl is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join a cross-functional Product Tribe responsible for building the end-to-end experience for managers using Toggl’s planning, time tracking, capacity management, reporting, and time-intelligence products.

This is a full-time remote role open globally, provided the candidate’s main location is between UTC-4 and UTC+4. Team meetings are scheduled between 11:00 and 16:00 UTC, and participation in those sessions is required.

What You’ll Do

• Own substantial product features end to end, from data models and APIs through frontend interfaces.
• Take projects from problem definition through production delivery.
• Make technical decisions, document trade-offs, and break complex work into practical delivery stages.
• Build data-heavy interfaces such as planning views, dashboards, reports, and capacity-management tools.
• Design backend data and API layers that support scalable product development.
• Profile and improve frontend, backend, and query performance.
• Write maintainable code with appropriate test coverage.
• Partner closely with Product and Design to shape solutions rather than simply implement specifications.
• Review code, mentor engineers, and support technical hiring.
• Identify duplicated work and shared opportunities across product teams.
• Use AI tools extensively for prototyping, code generation, debugging, research, review, and technical writing.

Technical Stack

The team uses React and TypeScript on the frontend, Golang-based backend services, and PostgreSQL for the data layer.

Prior Golang experience is not mandatory, but candidates must be willing to adopt it quickly.

Required Background

Candidates should have significant experience building and shipping production web applications end to end and be capable of leading major technical projects.

Strong practical experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and modern CSS is required, including state management and side-effect handling in large applications.

Candidates also need strong backend fundamentals, including API design, relational data modelling, query performance, and at least one backend programming language.

AI Fluency

AI fluency is a core expectation. Toggl expects engineers to use AI tools extensively across exploration, prototyping, code generation, code review, debugging, research, and writing.

Preferred Experience

Experience with TanStack, frontend caching, eventual consistency, capacity planning, scheduling, reporting, distributed systems, microservices, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD is valuable.

Remote Work and Collaboration

This role can be performed from anywhere in the world as long as the candidate’s main location is between UTC-4 and UTC+4.

Team meetings take place between 11:00 and 16:00 UTC, and availability during these sessions is essential.

Compensation

The salary for this position is €83,000 per year.
