Role Overview
As the Lead Interpreting Physician for Breast Imaging, the incumbent will oversee both the clinical and administrative aspects of the hospital’s breast imaging program. Core responsibilities include screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and image-guided biopsies across all modalities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in breast imaging interpretation and leadership within a multidisciplinary care environment, ensuring compliance with VA standards and promoting excellence in patient care.

Qualifications and Experience

Additional requirements include:
- Completion of an accredited residency program in a core specialty recognized by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
- Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Radiology
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required before assuming duties
Preferred candidates will bring prior experience in breast imaging and a strong record of clinical leadership or academic contribution.
Work Schedule and Conditions
The position is part-time, operating Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM. This is not a remote or telework-eligible role, and no relocation or recruitment incentives are authorized.
Applicants will undergo standard VA employment requirements, including a background investigation, pre-employment physical, and drug testing. Participation in the VA’s annual influenza vaccination program is also mandatory for all health care personnel.
Education and Accreditation
Degrees must be obtained from institutions accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA). International graduates must present a valid Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.
