Technical Sourcer

About the Opportunity

Discord is hiring a Technical Sourcer to support complex engineering hiring by identifying, engaging, and activating passive technical talent across the United States.

This is a temporary position with a U.S.-remote option. The role focuses on technical sourcing, market intelligence, talent mapping, pipeline development, personalized outreach, and close partnership with engineering leaders and recruiters.

What You’ll Do

• Partner with hiring managers and technical leaders to understand role requirements, technical stacks, team needs, and ideal candidate profiles.
• Translate technical requirements into effective sourcing criteria and search strategies.
• Conduct total addressable market research to size talent pools and assess hiring feasibility.
• Build competitor and company maps to identify relevant technical talent.
• Create tailored sourcing strategies using Boolean search, X-ray search, GitHub sourcing, and competitive intelligence.
• Identify and engage passive engineering candidates, including senior, staff, principal, and leadership-level talent.
• Create personalized outreach campaigns that reflect a strong understanding of candidates’ technical backgrounds.
• Own candidate experience from initial outreach through recruiter handoff.
• Represent Discord at technical conferences, meetups, and industry events.
• Maintain recruiting-system data quality and track pipeline metrics such as response rates, activation rates, conversion ratios, and source effectiveness.

Required Experience

Candidates need at least five years of technical sourcing or recruitment experience, preferably within a high-growth technology company.

The role requires demonstrated success sourcing senior, staff, and principal engineers as well as engineering managers in competitive technical talent markets.

Technical Sourcing Skills

Candidates should have strong technical aptitude and be comfortable understanding complex engineering roles, technical qualifications, and sourcing signals.

Expert-level Boolean search and advanced sourcing skills are required, including X-ray search, GitHub or repository mining, conference and publication tracking, and creative talent discovery methods beyond traditional recruiting platforms.

Tools and Market Intelligence

Relevant tools include SeekOut, Gem, LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, Greenhouse, and AI-assisted sourcing tools.

The role also requires strong market-mapping and talent-pool analysis skills, including the ability to assess addressable talent markets, capability gaps, hiring feasibility, and competitive talent dynamics.

Remote Work

This is a U.S.-based temporary role with a remote option. Candidates may also be based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Compensation

The published base salary range for this temporary full-time position is $132,000 to $148,500 USD per year.

The role is also eligible for benefits. The published range represents base salary only and does not include equity or benefits.
