Remote Job Eligibility Index 2026

A transparent snapshot of 112 active remote-job listings shows that “remote” rarely means “work from anywhere”—and that a visible pay number is not the same as complete pay context.

At a glance

Four findings from the snapshot

11.6%

were worldwide

Only 13 of 112 listings were classified as open worldwide.

61.6%

were U.S.-restricted

45 were U.S. nationwide and 24 limited applicants to selected states.

67.0%

included numeric pay

75 listings had a pay value, but only 6 also recorded a currency in the canonical field.

99.1%

used external apply

111 sent applicants to an employer website; one accepted a WorkinVirtual application.

Why this matters: candidates need location, payroll and application-route context before investing time. Employers and publishers should not use “remote” as a substitute for eligibility details.
Finding 1

Worldwide work was the exception.

The largest single group was U.S. nationwide, followed by U.S. selected-state listings. Country-specific roles and remote-with-travel roles added further restrictions.

Finding 2

Pay visibility was useful—but incomplete.

Seventy-five listings included a numeric salary or pay range. Only six recorded a salary currency in the canonical currency field. That gap can make otherwise useful pay data ambiguous for an international audience.

Finding 3

Most applications left the platform.

External application routes dominated this snapshot. That makes accurate destination labels, tracked outbound clicks and frequent link rechecks especially important.

Apply on employer website111 · 99.1%
Apply on WorkinVirtual1 · 0.9%

WorkinVirtual labels the application route so candidates know whether they will remain on the platform before selecting Apply.

Methodology

How the index was produced

  1. Population: all 112 job listings with a public publish status on WorkinVirtual at the snapshot time on August 13, 2026.
  2. Fields: canonical job category, employment type, remote scope, eligible locations, application route, salary value, salary currency, publication date and featured state.
  3. Classification: counts use the stored canonical values. We did not infer a wider eligibility area or currency from the title, prose, company or search result.
  4. Privacy: the analysis excludes candidates, resumes, applications, contact details, private company evidence and account data.
  5. Reproducibility: the CSV contains aggregated segment counts and percentages. The report page is the canonical citation source.
