Role Summary

Nokia is expanding its Network Management team and is seeking an experienced Test Automation Engineer. The selected professional will contribute to the design, validation, and delivery of complex enterprise applications that support telecom operators in managing large-scale networks. As telecom infrastructure evolves rapidly, especially in the 5G era, the engineer will help ensure product reliability, architectural quality, and long-term competitiveness.

The role encourages a strong engineering culture. Therefore, team members follow clean coding practices, conduct peer reviews, use pair programming, and engage in development.

Core Responsibility Areas

Quality Engineering and Automation

The engineer designs, develops, and maintains efficient, reusable automation scripts and test frameworks. In addition, they prepare test plans, define specifications, execute tests, and automate test cases to maintain product quality at scale.

Collaboration in Distributed Systems

The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams. As a result, the engineer supports solution design and implementation in a microservices architecture.

Full Lifecycle Contribution

From requirements gathering through deployment and maintenance, the engineer actively contributes across the entire software development lifecycle. This involvement ensures that testing aligns with both functional and operational expectations.

Engineering Excellence and CI CD

The professional explores and applies best practices in continuous integration and continuous deployment. Furthermore, they participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers, strengthening the team’s overall capability.

Technical Decision Support

The engineer contributes to short-term and mid-term technical decisions within their domain, thereby influencing product direction and system robustness.

Candidate Background

Education

A relevant background in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related discipline is expected.

Required Expertise

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong experience in software testing and automation. In addition, they bring practical knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl, Shell, and Python. Hands-on experience with Robot Framework and tools, including Jenkins, Git, and Gerrit, is essential.

Experience with applications deployed on WebSphere and Kubernetes is also required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills are critical for success in this collaborative environment.

Advantageous Knowledge

Familiarity with the ETSI MANO software stack is beneficial. Moreover, knowledge of protocols such as SNMP, 3GPP SFTP, or Netconf adds value to the role.
