Google Unveils AI Search in Singapore with Smarter Answers and Multimodal Features

GOOGLE UNVEILS AI SEARCH IN SINGAPORE

Google has introduced a new era of search in Singapore by rolling out its AI-powered Search feature, giving users more precise, conversational, and multimodal ways to find information online. The launch marks a significant step in how artificial intelligence is shaping the future of search engines.

The AI Mode is now available in English on both the Google homepage and mobile app, powered by Gemini 2.5, the company’s most advanced language model to date. Instead of relying on short keyword queries, Singapore users can now ask longer and more detailed questions and receive comprehensive answers that pull insights from multiple sources.

From Simple Queries to Rich Conversations

According to IT Brief Asia, Traditional search often forces users to enter several queries to get complete information. AI Mode changes this by analysing complex questions, breaking them into smaller subtopics, and running multiple searches in the background. The results are then presented in a single, well-structured answer.

For example, someone planning a short trip might type “Which budget-friendly destinations are best for a weekend getaway from Singapore in September?”. AI Mode can respond with flight details, weather forecasts, suggested activities, and additional travel tips. Follow-up questions, such as “What are the best solo travel options?” refine the results further, creating a more natural conversation with search.

A Multimodal Experience for Everyday Needs

Beyond typing, users can now search with their voice or by uploading an image. Integration with Google Lens makes this even more powerful. For instance, taking a picture of a plant allows AI Mode to identify it, explain care instructions, and recommend resources for gardening enthusiasts.

This multimodal approach makes search more convenient in real-life scenarios, especially when typing is not practical. Whether through speech, visuals, or text, Google aims to make information accessible in the most natural way possible.

Empowering Users and Businesses

AI Mode is designed not just to give answers but also to improve content discovery. By allowing detailed, nuanced questions, the system surfaces a wider range of online resources that may not appear in traditional keyword-based searches. This benefits both users, who get richer insights, and publishers, whose content gains visibility across a broader audience.

The system also leverages Google’s Knowledge Graph and extensive product data to ensure that the answers remain relevant and up to date. With real-time information, the tool enhances decision-making for everything from shopping to travel planning.

Available Now in Singapore

Singapore is among the first countries outside the United States to gain access to AI Mode, highlighting the region’s importance in Google’s strategy of expanding artificial intelligence globally. Users can enable AI Mode directly in the Google app or on desktop for eligible searches starting today.

This launch represents more than just an upgrade to Google Search. It signals a new direction where AI makes searching smarter, more intuitive, and far closer to how people naturally think and ask questions.
