Danone’s Nutricia Research Centre for Specialized Nutrition, based in the Utrecht Science Park, stands at the forefront of innovation for vulnerable consumers — from infants to older adults. Within its Specialized Nutrition Research & Innovation (SN R&I) division, the organization is inviting applications for the Global Packaging Specifications Internship — a hands-on opportunity to explore the intersection of food safety, packaging technology, and regulatory excellence.

Role Overview

The Global Packaging Specifications Intern will contribute to Danone’s commitment to safe, compliant, and sustainable packaging. The intern will assist in managing and upgrading packaging specifications to align with evolving food safety and regulatory standards.

The role involves collaboration with internal teams — including R&I, Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing — as well as external packaging suppliers and laboratories. Working closely with the Senior Specification Manager, Svetlana Mijnen, the intern will help maintain excellence in packaging compliance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the specification upgrading process to reflect new functional, regulatory, and quality requirements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement and complexity reduction in packaging specifications.
  • Participate in food safety risk assessments related to packaging materials.
  • Collaborate across multiple departments and contribute to continuous quality enhancement projects.
  • Assist in communication and documentation processes within the Packaging Specifications Management Team.

Educational & Eligibility Criteria:

  • Enrolled as a Bachelor’s or Master’s student throughout the internship.
  • Resident of the Netherlands with a valid BSN number.
  • For non-EU citizens: possession of a valid Dutch residency permit.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Availability: February/March 2026 start, minimum 6 months, 4–5 days per week.
  • Must be able to work from the Utrecht office at least 2 days per week.
