Role Summary
The Contract Program Manager joins the Global Infrastructure and Energy team to oversee contract strategy and execution across Google’s global data center portfolio. This role manages the full contract lifecycle, from pre-construction planning through negotiation and final execution.
Acting as a strategic link between Legal and Operations, the Program Manager ensures that agreements deliver commercial value while protecting the company from financial and legal exposure. The position requires direct engagement with developers, engineering, procurement, and Construction firms, General Contractors, and Architecture and Engineering partners.
The role demands disciplined program governance, decision-making, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships across multiple regions.
Core Areas of Responsibility
Portfolio Contract Execution
The Program Manager leads the timely development and implementation of contract models across an expanding data center program. This includes aligning delivery frameworks with project scope, risk allocation, and business objectives.
Commercial Strategy and Negotiation
The role shapes contracting methodologies based on project complexity, risk profile, and design maturity. In addition, the Program Manager serves as the primary negotiator with external partners to secure favorable commercial terms that meet departmental goals.
Legal and Risk Alignment
In partnership with the Real Estate Legal team, the role verifies that indemnity clauses, liability structures, and commercial provisions meet corporate risk expectations. This alignment protects enterprise value while enabling operational efficiency.
Data and Performance Monitoring
The Program Manager leverages data visualization tools, such as Tableau, SQL, and customized dashboards, to monitor program health, procurement cycles, and performance metrics. Reporting supports executive visibility and informed decision-making.
Candidate Requirement
Google seeks a strategic operator with deep experience in construction and infrastructure contracting, as well as the ability to navigate complex commercial environments. The successful candidate demonstrates expertise in negotiation, structured analytical thinking, and executive communication.
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
Required Experience
- At least five years of pre-construction program management experience within construction, real estate, or data center sectors
- At least five years of experience in contract negotiation and procurement strategy, including direct management of Developer, EPC, General Contractor, and Architecture and Engineering relationships
- At least five years of experience using data visualization tools to track and report program performance
- At least five years of experience in contract administration, procurement, or legal support within a high-volume professional setting
Preferred Experience
- Master’s degree in Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field
- Ten years of experience leading negotiations across diverse agreement structures
- Demonstrated ability to optimize source-to-contract workflows for critical infrastructure portfolios
- Experience in the design and construction of complex facilities, with the ability to translate delivery models into actionable procurement strategies
- Strong understanding of indemnity, liability, and commercial contract principles
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary for this position ranges from 147,000 to 216,000 USD, depending on level, location, and individual qualifications. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive a performance bonus and equity awards.
For United States employees, benefits include health, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage; retirement savings through a 401(k) plan with company match; paid vacation accrual of twenty days per year during the first five years; statutory and discretionary sick leave; parental leave programs; and thirteen paid holidays annually.
