Role Overview
Etsy is seeking an Investigator for Operational Excellence within the Account Integrity and Security team. This role is pivotal in strengthening fraud prevention efforts by leading complex investigations, analyzing fraud trends, and driving improvements in operational processes and tools. The position reports to the Risk and Fraud Operations Manager and is designed for candidates with experience in fraud operations and operational excellence initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead operational excellence initiatives, including Quality Assurance (QA) and Business Process Improvement (BPI).
- Conduct complex fraud investigations and provide expert guidance on challenging cases.
- Analyze fraud trends and translate findings into actionable improvements in processes and detection methods.
- Mentor and upskill investigators through calibrations, training, and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to represent operational needs during product or policy updates.
- Identify opportunities to improve tools, policies, and procedures to enhance the integrity of user accounts.
About the Team
The Account Integrity and Security team is part of Etsy’s Risk & Fraud organization, which also includes Merchant Risk, Transaction Fraud, and Marketplace Fraud. This team focuses on protecting Etsy accounts from compromise, enforcing platform policies, and safeguarding marketplace trust by strengthening identity verification, clustering related accounts, and ensuring overall account integrity.
Required Candidate Profile
Education & Experience Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in fraud operations with a proven record in managing complex investigations.
- Experience leading operational excellence projects, such as QA or BPI initiatives.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools like Looker or Tableau to extract actionable insights.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to mentor team members and collaborate with cross-functional partners.
