Role Overview
The Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing Ovia Health’s cloud infrastructure. This position ensures systems are scalable, secure, highly available, and compliant with healthcare standards. Reporting to a Team Lead or senior engineering manager, the role is ideal for professionals with 2–4 years of experience who thrive in collaborative environments and want to support systems that directly impact patient care and organizational operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deploy, manage, and maintain highly available, fault-tolerant cloud infrastructure.
- Design and implement infrastructure solutions primarily within AWS.
- Enforce security best practices with a focus on healthcare compliance and data protection.
- Develop automation and tooling using Python, Bash, and other scripting languages.
- Collaborate with application engineers to support the full software development lifecycle.
- Participate in code and infrastructure reviews to improve reliability and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to infrastructure design discussions aligned with product and company goals.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues, including during incident response.
- Maintain well-documented and maintainable infrastructure that adheres to platform standards.
Best Candidate Profile
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience Requirements:
- 2–4 years of professional experience in infrastructure, cloud engineering, DevOps, or related fields.
- Hands-on experience operating production systems in AWS.
- Proficiency with Linux systems, Bash scripting, and Python.
- Understanding of infrastructure-as-code, system reliability, and cloud security fundamentals.
Technical Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of AWS core services (EC2, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch).
- Experience with CloudFormation, ECS, EKS, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway.
- Familiarity with containerized workloads, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tooling (e.g., Jenkins).
- Knowledge of AWS security best practices, including secrets management and certificate management.
- Ability to troubleshoot across distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare or compliance-driven environments.
- Familiarity with SOC 2, HIPAA, and Kubernetes-based systems.
- Prior experience supporting high-availability, customer-facing production systems.
