Position Overview
The Production Controller plays a critical role in the Logistics Directorate, managing maintenance production and ensuring units maintain required equipment readiness levels. This position oversees production scheduling, provides technical guidance, and serves as an expert on equipment maintenance processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and implements maintenance schedules for vehicles and equipment, including combat vehicles, heavy engineering equipment, artillery systems, communications equipment, and small arms. Monitors progress and adjusts priorities as needed.
- Ensures Line Item Numbers (LINs) and other equipment are properly accounted for in readiness and property reports. Prioritizes resources to maintain readiness for training and mobilization requirements.
- Plans and programs workload, shop space, and personnel for short- and long-term maintenance operations, considering mechanical capabilities, diagnostic equipment availability, repair parts, and annual or mobilization training requirements.
- Manages Class IX (CL IX) accounts, ensuring budgets are executed efficiently to sustain unit mission requirements. Performs demand analysis to optimize stock levels.
- Establishes maintenance priorities based on readiness codes, pacing items, commander priorities, and state/national emergency requirements. Monitors work orders, authorizes equipment repairs, and coordinates status reporting.
- Analyzes repair methods, develops control procedures, and ensures quality assurance measures meet established deadlines and standards. Coordinates with depots, logistics personnel, and higher management for critical repair parts.
- Provides technical oversight to junior Production Controllers and may guide mechanics or other maintenance staff. Ensures reporting and maintenance operations are completed efficiently.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications:
- Must have experience, education, or training demonstrating the ability to interpret production and management reports and maintain equipment status updates.
- Must demonstrate skills in work order data entry, workflow planning, repair methods analysis, coordination with logistics personnel, and Class IX demand analysis.
- Specialized experience: Minimum of 1 year at the GS-07 level performing scheduling, workflow coordination, work order preparation, and use of automation support systems to manage maintenance operations.
Education Requirements:
No specific educational requirements; experience and training must demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to perform duties effectively. Documentation is required to support training/education claims.
Military Requirements:
- Must be a current member of the Nevada Army National Guard.
- Compatible military grade: E4 to E8; MOS: 92A.
- Must meet military skill and assignment requirements per Title 32, US Code.
Other Requirements:
- Federal employment suitability, ability to obtain a Secret clearance, valid driver’s license if operating vehicles, adherence to uniform and conduct standards, willingness to work overtime, and awareness of environmental responsibilities.
- Compliance with the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (Lautenberg Amendment) is required.
