We are seeking a skilled Scala Engineer who is passionate about functional programming and building robust backend systems. In this role, you will develop and maintain the core event-driven architecture that powers our platform, leveraging technologies like Cats, FS2, Kafka, and PostgreSQL. Your Mission: Architect and Scale Our Event-Driven Backend
You will be a key contributor to our R&D team, responsible for building and optimizing the high-performance, scalable backend services that are the engine of Chili Piper’s real-time lead routing platform.
Key Responsibilities:

Design, build, and maintain robust, event-driven systems using Scala and functional programming libraries like Cats and FS2.

Build and optimize applications using Kafka to handle real-time data streams and ensure system reliability.

Architect, implement, and optimize relational databases with PostgreSQL, focusing on performance and scalability.

Have the opportunity to augment our product by exploring integrations with Large Language Models (LLMs)Â to deliver smarter features.

Write clean, efficient, and well-tested functional code, contributing to a culture of high technical standards.
Who You Are (The Ideal Candidate):

A backend engineer with proven professional experience in Scala development and a strong grasp of functional programming principles.

Experienced with functional libraries like Cats and stream processing with FS2.

Familiar with building distributed, event-driven systems and has hands-on experience with Kafka.

Proficient in relational database design, management, and optimization with PostgreSQL.

A proactive problem-solver who enjoys autonomy and takes ownership of their work.

Bonus: Experience or a strong interest in working with Large Language Models (LLMs).

Important: This role is open to non-USA candidates only, and you must be located within the PST to GMT+3 time zones for optimal collaboration.
