As the Senior Director of Global Construction, Real Estate & Design, you will be the enterprise-wide change agent responsible for our global footprint strategy and execution. You will lead an integrated portfolio of over 120 active projects and manage a capital spend exceeding $350M, directly influencing how Medtronic’s global teams innovate, collaborate, and manufacture life-saving technologies.

Key Responsibilities & Impact:

Architect and lead the unified global strategy for commercial real estate, construction, and interior design, aligning physical spaces with business growth and innovation goals.

Govern the end-to-end delivery of a complex, high-stakes project portfolio spanning greenfield manufacturing sites, R&D labs, clean rooms, and global office expansions.

Serve as the executive leader for site selection, lease negotiations, acquisitions, and dispositions to optimize efficiency, sustainability, and cost across the global portfolio.

Build, mentor, and lead a global team of directors and managers, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and project management rigor.

Partner with C-suite and senior leadership across EHS, Legal, Finance, and Operations to ensure strategic alignment, compliance, and capital stewardship.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
-
Bachelor’s Degree is required.

Minimum of 15 years of progressive, relevant experience, including at least 10 years in a senior managerial/director-level role leading large, global project teams in manufacturing facilities construction and real estate. (Advanced degree with 13+ years of experience also acceptable).

Proven experience managing complex capital projects ($50M+) in highly regulated environments (e.g., medical device, pharma, semiconductor clean rooms, laboratories).

Executive Presence & Financial Acumen:Â Demonstrated ability to influence at the VP/C-suite level, with strong financial controls, forecasting, and capital planning expertise.

Global Mobility: Must possess a valid passport and be willing to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.

Technical ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints and construction documents.
Ideal Candidate Profile (Nice to Have):

Advanced degree in Architecture, Engineering, Real Estate, or Business Administration.

Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore).

Exceptional contract negotiation and vendor management skills.

Experience thriving in a large, matrixed, global corporate environment.
What We Offer:

A competitive base salary range of $209,600 – $314,400, plus Short-Term Incentive (MIP) and Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP), positioning total compensation well into the $300,000+ range.
