As we modernize our data infrastructure, we are seeking a skilled Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to become the cornerstone of our database ecosystem’s stability and performance.

In this pivotal role, you will own the reliability, monitoring, and security of our production databases across AWS RDS, Aurora, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server. You will be instrumental in ensuring 24/7 system availability, driving performance optimization, and supporting our strategic shift toward a modern, real-time data platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage, monitor, and optimize our database infrastructure on AWS to ensure high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and peak performance.

  • Act as a primary responder for critical database incidents, conducting swift diagnostics, resolution, and implementing preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.

  • Partner with InfoSec and Data Governance teams to enforce least-privilege access, clean up permissions, and ensure robust security, encryption, and compliance across all database environments.

  • Collaborate with Data and Software Engineering teams to support real-time data ingestion (CDC, Kafka), schema design, and the evolution toward a modern Data Cloud platform (Snowflake).

  • Identify and automate manual processes, enhance monitoring (using CloudWatch, Datadog), and develop comprehensive runbooks to improve operational efficiency and team collaboration.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a database engineering, administration, or reliability role.

  • Expertise in Core Technologies: Proven production experience with AWS RDS/Aurora, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Strong Performance Tuning Skills: Deep understanding of query optimization, indexing, capacity planning, and performance diagnostics.

  • High Availability & DR Expertise: Experience implementing and managing replication, failover strategies, and backup/recovery operations.

  • Security-First Mindset: Practical knowledge of IAM, access control, encryption, and auditability within database systems.

  • Excellent Troubleshooting & Communication: Ability to diagnose complex issues under pressure and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Mission-Critical Mentality: A proven track record of supporting and stabilizing mission-critical production databases.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):

  • Experience with or interest in Snowflake.

  • Exposure to real-time data tools (Kafka, Kinesis, CDC, AWS DMS).

  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).

  • Experience with advanced observability tools (Datadog, Grafana, New Relic).
