About the Role: Engineer Cutting-Edge Computer Vision for Warehouse Automation
We are seeking a hands-on Computer Vision Engineer to join our innovation lab in Buenos Aires. In this hybrid role, you will be at the forefront of designing and implementing real-time computer vision pipelines that directly enhance our warehouse management systems and user interfaces.
You will tackle challenging problems in edge AI deployment, working on Deep Learning models that operate on devices within dynamic warehouse environments. This is a unique opportunity to see your algorithms directly improve logistics efficiency and redefine how humans and machines interact in the world of e-commerce fulfillment.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Design, prototype, and deploy real-time computer vision pipelines for execution on edge computing devices within operational warehouses.
-
Train, fine-tune, and optimize Deep Learning models (including object detection and segmentation) for high-accuracy performance in specific application scenarios.
-
Manage the full data lifecycle: collect, annotate, and curate datasets for model training, validation, and testing.
-
Redefine product human-machine interfaces (HMI) by leveraging both classical computer vision techniques and modern machine learning approaches.
-
Collaborate with embedded systems and software teams to integrate vision solutions into the broader ShipHero ecosystem.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
-
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
-
3+ years of professional Python programming experience in a production environment.
-
Hands-on experience with Deep Learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
-
Proven track record of customizing, fine-tuning, and deploying models (e.g., YOLO, RT-DETR) for real-world applications.
-
Solid understanding of classical computer vision fundamentals and experience working with real-time camera systems.
-
Proficiency working within Linux operating systems.
-
Ability to work primarily from our office in Coghlan, Buenos Aires, with a strong emphasis on focused, asynchronous collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points):
-
Experience with C++ and CUDA for performance-critical applications.
-
Familiarity with embedded AI devices like NVIDIA Jetson platforms.
-
A keen interest or experience in robotics or automation systems.
