Role Summary

The Senior Associate for IT Internal Audit plays a key part in assessing Fannie Mae’s technology environment. The role centers on issue validation across cloud and on-premises platforms while supporting overall IT risk oversight. It provides autonomy, visibility, and a broad exposure to advanced technologies used across the organization.

Core Responsibilities

1. Technology Risk Insights

The auditor applies technical expertise to validate complex IT issues. This includes cybersecurity, resiliency, and infrastructure areas across both cloud systems and internal data environments.

2. Issue Management Review

The role evaluates the full lifecycle of remediation activities. It offers feedback on remediation progress, highlights potential gaps, and uses a risk-based mindset to guide follow-up plans and recommend deeper analysis when needed.

3. Planning and Documentation

The auditor manages assigned issue validations, maintains clear work papers, and responds promptly to review comments. Guidance from managers is provided when required, but day-to-day work is performed independently.

4. Fieldwork and Testing

Testing activities focus on the highest risk areas. The role conducts testing steps independently and ensures clear, accurate, and complete reporting.

5. Data Analytics and Reporting

The position uses analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Python. It also contributes to trend analyses by compiling and interpreting remediation data for leadership insights.

Experience and Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in IT Audit, IT Risk Management, or Information Security.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies, including Amazon Web Services.
  • Exposure to cybersecurity concepts
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities and multitask effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid critical thinking and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to perform data analysis and create visualizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 or more years in IT Audit, IT Risk Management, or Information Security.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics, data science, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications, including CISA, CISSP, CEH, CRISC, or CISM.

Compensation and Benefits

The target pay range for this position is $94,000 to $122,000 per year. Salary decisions take into account experience level, certifications, and overall qualifications. Working Environment
