About the Role

Manulife Bank is seeking an Internal Business Development Manager (IBDM) – Broker Channel to accelerate the growth of its mortgage broker network. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding broker partnerships, driving sales performance, and delivering tailored lending solutions that empower clients to grow and manage their wealth more effectively.

Core Areas of Focus

1. Broker Relationship Development

  • Build, manage, and strengthen relationships with mortgage brokers through structured communication, including virtual meetings, educational sessions, and targeted outreach campaigns.
  • Guide brokers on mortgage deal submissions and structure optimization, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Collaborate with external Business Development Managers (BDMs) to transition high-performing brokers and reassign underperforming accounts as necessary.

2. Sales Education & Enablement

  • Lead and manage the Mortgage Broker Sales Education Series, equipping brokers with product knowledge and underwriting expertise.
  • Conduct assessments to measure mastery and provide actionable feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with BDMs to identify and onboard new participants into the training ecosystem.

3. File & Deal Management

  • Support brokers from pre-application to funding, ensuring a seamless experience throughout the mortgage lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with National Desks to identify, solicit, and process broker deals efficiently.
  • Maintain portfolio health by managing funding ratios and evaluating broker performance metrics.

4. Strategic Sales Planning & Operations

  • Leverage digital tools and data insights to optimize sales activities and enhance team productivity.
  • Prioritize key markets and develop tactical plans that align with national sales goals.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education & Experience

  • College or university degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the banking or mortgage brokerage industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage underwriting principles.
  • Proven ability to conduct virtual meetings and professional presentations.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM and intermediate-level Microsoft Excel skills.
