Role Summary
The Incident Response Analyst plays a critical role in safeguarding Autodesk’s digital ecosystem. This professional monitors, identifies, assesses, and responds to security events across a large and complex enterprise environment. In addition, the analyst investigates incidents, performs triage, and documents findings while collaborating with internal stakeholders to remediate threats efficiently.
The position requires deep familiarity with system security architecture, network and cloud security practices, and modern attack methodologies. Since the role operates within an established security team, it demands both technical expertise and the ability to coordinate effectively across departments. Furthermore, the analyst must demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous learning and proactive security improvement.
Core Areas of Responsibility
Security Monitoring and Threat Detection
The analyst manages daily monitoring operations across endpoint, network, and cloud security platforms. By analyzing telemetry from EDR, SIEM, SOAR, and related tools, the professional detects anomalies and initiates investigative procedures.
The role also involves reviewing firewall, server, and application logs to uncover suspicious activity and produce comprehensive investigative reports.
Incident Investigation and Containment
The position requires a thorough examination of proxy logs, Microsoft Windows systems, Active Directory environments, and potentially malicious code. Through structured investigation processes, the analyst identifies root causes, contains threats, eradicates malicious presence, and ensures recovery.
In addition, the professional performs incident response activities from initial detection through post-incident review, ensuring lessons learned translate into improved defensive measures.
Forensics and Malware Analysis
The analyst conducts foundational forensic investigations and malware analysis in alignment with established playbooks and documented procedures. By following structured response frameworks, the professional ensures consistent, defensible incident-handling practices.
Security Process Improvement
Beyond operational response, the role contributes to enhancing security maturity. The analyst helps develop and maintain documentation, playbooks, and process tools.
Collaboration with stakeholders supports the ongoing refinement of the Security Orchestration Platform, thereby strengthening automation and response efficiency.
Documentation and Case Management
Clear and precise documentation remains essential. The analyst records investigation notes, remediation steps, and outcomes within the case management system to ensure traceability and audit readiness.
Operational Readiness
The position operates in a continuous security environment. As a result, the analyst supports a 24/7 model that may include night shifts, weekends, and holiday coverage, as required by the business. Maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all activities is mandatory.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate combines technical depth with analytical precision. This professional demonstrates strong critical thinking skills, structured investigation methodology, and the ability to function effectively within a collaborative security team.
Equally important, the candidate communicates clearly in both written and verbal formats, enabling alignment across technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
