About the Position:
The Forest Service is seeking a skilled and experienced Radio Frequency Management Expert to join their Chief Information Office (CIO). This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the agency’s critical communication systems and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and manage national telecommunication systems and programs.
- Coordinate radio frequencies with partner organizations, particularly during fire suppression and incident support.
- Provide technical guidance and advice on Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems, including HF, VHF, UHF, Microwave, Satellite, Seismic, and telemetry systems.
- Ensure compliance with telecommunications standards for software and hardware integration.
Qualifications:
- Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. This includes experience in areas such as:
- Providing guidance on telecommunication policies and procedures.
- Acquiring IT equipment and services for telecommunications needs.
- Managing projects related to telecommunications systems.
- Ensuring compliance with telecommunications standards.
- Eligibility: This position is open to current permanent Forest Service employees in the CIO with competitive status, Land Management eligibles, and CTAP/RPL eligible candidates.
