The Role: Technical Writer (Future Opportunity)
While this is not an immediate opening, we are seeking experienced Technical Writers to register their interest for future positions. At GitLab, Technical Writers are crucial in creating clear, comprehensive, and user-centric documentation for our expansive platform, including cutting-edge AI products like Duo Enterprise. You will collaborate with global teams, leverage AI in your workflow, and contribute to the core material that empowers millions of developers and organizations.

What You Would Do (In a Future Role):

  • Create and maintain high-quality documentation for GitLab’s AI-powered DevSecOps platform, including user guides, API references, and release notes.

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to understand complex features and translate them into clear, accessible content.

  • Embrace and integrate AI tools into your daily workflow to enhance productivity and content quality.

  • Contribute to GitLab’s open-source documentation, adhering to our values of collaboration and iteration.

  • Help shape information architecture and content strategy to improve the user experience for a global audience.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Experienced technical writers with a portfolio demonstrating skill in documenting complex software platforms.

  • A strong understanding of software development, DevOps, or DevSecOps concepts.

  • Proficiency with modern documentation tooling and workflows.

  • An AI-forward mindset—comfortable using AI tools to augment and improve technical writing.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to thrive in a fully remote, asynchronous, and globally distributed team environment.

  • A passion for open source, developer tools, and enabling others through great documentation.
