Job Description: Software Engineer – Remote

Are you a skilled PHP/WordPress developer eager to build innovative, AI-powered plugins that reach a global audience? RebelCode, a bootstrapped, distributed team behind the leading WP RSS Aggregator plugin (50,000+ active installs), is seeking a Software Engineer to join our small, experienced team. This is a full-time remote role where you will be a key technical contributor, expanding our flagship products with new features, React interfaces, and pragmatic AI integrations that shape how content is consumed on the web.

If you have 3-5 years of professional PHP and 2+ years of WordPress plugin development experience, combined with strong JavaScript/React skills and a passion for building complete product platforms, this is your opportunity to have a significant impact in a lean, autonomous environment. Join a decade-old company as we enter an exciting new phase of product innovation.

About RebelCode:

For over a decade, we’ve built successful digital products used by 100,000+ people worldwide. We are a small, bootstrapped team of 5 distributed across 4 countries, dedicated to craftsmanship and building the best possible tools. We operate 100% remotely with a focus on asynchronous collaboration, clear communication, and empowering each team member to own their work.

Your Mission:

To be a core contributor to our WordPress plugin ecosystem, helping to evolve our flagship products beyond aggregation into intelligent content tools. You will work across the full stack—from PHP plugin architecture to React frontends and AI API integrations—to deliver features that directly impact user experience and business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain, and enhance features for WP RSS Aggregator and our other plugins, writing clean, maintainable PHP code.

  • Develop across the stack, creating interactive user interfaces with React and integrating with third-party services and AI/ML APIs.

  • Contribute to expanding product capabilities into new areas, including intelligent content curation and the development of new add-ons.

  • Participate in code reviews with our Senior Developer, solve technical challenges independently, and contribute to a high-quality codebase.

  • Own your work in a remote, async-friendly environment, taking features from concept to launch with minimal supervision.

What You Bring (Essential Requirements):

  • 3-5 years of professional PHP development with strong object-oriented programming skills.

  • 2+ years of hands-on WordPress plugin development (not just themes), with a deep understanding of hooks, actions, filters, and plugin architecture.

  • Strong JavaScript fundamentals and practical experience building interfaces with React.

  • Solid understanding of software design patterns, Git/GitHub workflows, and collaborative development.

  • Proven experience working independently in a remote, asynchronous environment.

  • Fluent written and spoken English for clear communication.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with LaravelTypeScript, or AI/ML APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic).

  • Knowledge of Tailwind CSS or WordPress REST API development.

Why Join RebelCode?

  • Your code will directly power products used by tens of thousands of websites and hundreds of thousands of users.

  • Join a small, experienced team where you will have significant influence on product direction and technical decisions.

  • Work from anywhere with a flexible schedule, requiring only a 3-4 hour daily overlap with Central European Time (CET).

  • Benefit from a learning & development budgetexpenses-paid conference attendance (e.g., WordCamps), and a culture that values constructive feedback.

  • Defined success milestones for your first year: from shipping features independently at 3 months to becoming a full technical partner driving projects by 12 months.

  • 4 weeks of paid annual leave, a competitive salary for your region, and the chance to work with a diverse, culturally blended team.

Application Deadline: Friday, March 6th, 2026
Hiring Process: Application → Interview with CEO/PM → Paid Technical Task → Technical Interview → Offer.
