Job Description: Senior WordPress Plugin Developer – Remote
Are you a seasoned WordPress developer with deep expertise in modern PHP, plugin architecture, and AI-assisted coding? Uncanny Owl, the creator of Uncanny Automator—the premier native automation platform for WordPress—is seeking a skilled WordPress Developer to join our fully remote, global team. This is a high-impact role where you will build integrations that connect thousands of WordPress sites to hundreds of external services like CRMs, payment gateways, and marketing tools.

Your Mission:
To be a cornerstone of our product development, building robust, secure, and elegant integrations and features for our automation platform. You will “Make Stuff Go,” translating complex connectivity problems into simple, effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop new Uncanny Automator triggers and actions to connect WordPress with third-party services (Stripe, Google, MailChimp, etc.) via their APIs.

Scope, develop, test, and deploy product enhancements, new features, and add-ons of all sizes.

Refactor legacy code with backward compatibility, review pull requests, and fix bugs reported by our support team and customers.

Confidently jump between front-end (HTML/CSS/JS) and back-end (PHP/MySQL) tasks as needed.

Expertly leverage AI coding tools (like Claude Code) to accelerate and amplify your work while maintaining high-quality standards.
What You Bring (Mandatory Requirements):

3+ years of professional WordPress plugin development—deep understanding of plugin architecture, hooks (actions/filters), and WordPress coding standards.

4+ years of advanced PHP proficiency—OOP, namespacing, Composer, modern practices. You write clean, class-based code.

You use AI as a powerful tool in your workflow, not as a crutch.

Hands-on experience consuming REST APIs from various web services.

Escaping, sanitization, nonces, and capability checks are second nature.

Experience with Git/GitHub, build tools like webpack, and package managers (Composer, NPM).

Proven remote work experience and fluent English communication skills for clear async collaboration.

Ability to overlap with 9 AM – 5 PM Eastern Time (EST) for meetings and team collaboration.
Nice-to-Have Skills (Stand Out With):

Experience with LearnDash or existing Uncanny Automator integrations.

Advanced JavaScript (ES6+, Vue.js/React) and MySQL skills.
