We are seeking a Senior Support Engineer with deep expertise in Edifecs ECM/ETM, SQL, and enterprise integration to join our remote engineering team. You will be the technical backbone supporting critical encounter management and transaction processing systems that power healthcare analytics at scale.

The Opportunity: Senior Support Engineer

As a Senior Support Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for the support, maintenance, and enhancement of existing software applications within the Cotiviti product suite. You will collaborate with developers, offshore team members, business owners, project management, and other internal stakeholders to resolve complex technical issues and ensure system reliability.

You will be the escalation point for critical issues, providing direction, mentorship, and technical expertise to the broader support team. You will work across the full technology stack—from databases to application code to deployment pipelines—to diagnose and resolve issues impacting internal and external customers.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for an engineer who thrives on problem-solving, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.


What You’ll Own

Technical Support & Issue Resolution

  • Analyze and resolve software and process-related issues originating from internal and external customers.

  • Receive escalations from team members, providing direction in the execution and monitoring of daily tasks.

  • Diagnose and debug complex issues across the stack: applications, databases, integrations, and infrastructure.

  • Deploy and test patches, custom content packs, and fixes on Edifecs Encounter Management (ECM) and Transaction Management (ETM) solutions in lower environments, and assist with production deployments.

System Enhancement & Optimization

  • Execute solution enhancements to improve performance, availability, and scalability.

  • Analyze how automated systems can be implemented to solve complex business problems.

  • Explore new ideas and make innovative contributions to existing processes or systems, improving efficiency and results.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Document specifications, design, features, and operation of applications prior to production rollout.

  • Ensure documentation is current on all new and existing applications and processes.

  • Create and maintain implementation guides and companion guides.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work collaboratively with business partners to define and ensure completeness and accuracy of system/technical requirements.

  • Communicate technical and operational issues to both engineering and business leadership in a timely manner.

  • Mentor and provide feedback to team members, supporting their professional growth.

Quality Assurance & Standards

  • Apply the principles and practices of software quality assurance throughout the software development life cycle.

  • Ensure that all technology standards are adhered to while developing systems.

  • Participate in code reviews, debugging, and defect analysis.

Agile & DevOps

  • Work within Agile and SCRUM development methodologies.

  • Deploy changes using automation tools (Jenkins, Octopus).

  • Support CI/CD pipelines and contribute to continuous improvement of deployment processes.


What You Bring (Required Qualifications)

Education

  • BS degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline).

Experience

  • 4–5 years of relevant industry experience.

Technical Expertise (Non-Negotiables)

  • 5+ years reading and writing relational database queries using T-SQL or ANSI-SQL.

  • 5+ years hands-on experience developing or supporting applications using one or more of: COM, VB, Jscript, Java, Perl, C#, or VB.Net.

  • 5+ years experience supporting and maintaining Edifecs Encounter Management (ECM) and Edifecs Transaction Management (ETM) solutions.

  • 5+ years experience creating/maintaining implementation and companion guides.

  • 5+ years experience working with HTML/XML.

  • 4–5 years hands-on experience working in Linux-based environments.

  • 4–5 years experience with Java frameworks.

  • 4–5 years experience deploying changes using automation tools (Jenkins, Octopus).

  • 4–5 years experience with IT automation tools (Ansible) and/or scripting languages (VBScript, PowerShell) .

  • 4–5 years experience with databases and/or data processing pipelines.

  • 3+ years experience working with code: code review, debugging, analyzing defects.

Methodologies & Tools

  • Skilled in Agile and SCRUM development methodologies.

  • Prior experience working with CI/CD pipelines.

  • Working knowledge of Oracle SQL.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication skills—able to convey technical issues to both engineering and business leadership.

  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues.

  • Collaborative—able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications (Standout Candidates)

  • Experience with Docker or OpenShift containers.

  • Experience with JBoss.

  • Healthcare data experience is a significant plus.

  • Familiarity with healthcare transactions (X12 837, 835, 834, 277, etc.) and Edifecs tooling.
