The Opportunity: Senior Major Account Executive – New Accounts
You will be responsible for maximizing revenue within your territory by acquiring net new enterprise customers for the Akamai portfolio. This is a hunting-focused role requiring strategic discipline, executive presence, and deep partnership with our channel and reseller network.
You will engage C-level executives and corporate decision-makers, articulate Akamai’s value proposition, and align our solutions to their most critical business needs. You will work at the intersection of internet performance, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure, helping the world’s leading brands secure and accelerate their digital presence.
Key Focus Areas:

Net new logo acquisition within major enterprise accounts.

Strategic partner/reseller relationships (including Avant or similar Trusted Advisor ecosystems).

Consultative, solutions-based selling at the highest levels of the organization.
What You’ll Own
Strategic Sales & Revenue Growth
-
Develop and execute a territory sales plan focused on acquiring new enterprise customers.

Build and maintain a high-volume, high-quality sales pipeline through disciplined prospecting and relationship development.

Drive revenue growth by selling the full Akamai portfolio (security, CDN, cloud, edge computing) into net new accounts.
Executive Engagement & Value Articulation

Articulate Akamai’s value proposition to C-Level executives (CIO, CISO, CTO) and corporate decision-makers.

Translate complex technical capabilities (internet performance, security, cloud delivery) into clear business outcomes.

Build trusted relationships that position Akamai as a strategic partner, not just a vendor.
Partner & Channel Relationships

Build and maintain high-level strategic relationships within our partner and reseller network.

Leverage relationships with Trusted Advisor partners (e.g., Avant) to accelerate new account acquisition.

Collaborate with partners to develop joint strategies and co-sell opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with field marketing, sales engineering, and customer success resources to ensure a consultative, seamless engagement.

Work across internal teams to align Akamai solutions with prospect business needs.

Manage contract negotiations to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes and long-term customer adoption.
Pipeline & Forecast Discipline

Maintain rigorous pipeline management and forecasting accuracy.

Track and report on sales activities, deal progress, and territory performance.
What You Bring (Required Qualifications)
Experience & Education
-
5+ years of relevant enterprise sales experience and a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination).

Proven track record in SaaS, IaaS, or solutions sales within technology/security markets.
Technical & Industry Acumen

Strong understanding of:

Internet performance (CDN, acceleration)
-
Internet security (DDoS, WAF, zero trust, bot management)

Cloud service providers (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure)

Ability to engage credibly with both technical and executive audiences.
Partner & Channel Expertise

Demonstrated success building and maintaining strategic partner/reseller relationships.

Ideal candidate has experience working within the Avant or similar Trusted Advisor partner sales space.
