We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Core & Connectivity team. This role is at the heart of our business, focusing on the foundational platform and critical integrations that power everything we do. You will dive deep into our majestic Laravel monolith to enhance stability, build new 0→1 features, and ensure seamless connectivity with our global travel partners. Your Mission: Build, Scale, and Secure the Core Product Engine

You will be the guardian and innovator of our core platform, responsible for the systems that manage properties, calendars, messaging, and the vital data pipelines from our partner integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and ship new backend features 0→1 within our Laravel monolith, from conception through deployment and iteration based on customer feedback.

  • Become an expert in our existing connections to major travel sites (Airbnb, Booking.com, etc.). Optimize API usage, improve system resilience, and implement integrations with new partners.

  • Use observability tools to proactively identify, debug, and remedy performance issues, resource bottlenecks, and bugs that impact customer operations.

  • Refactor complex connectivity and core logic to make it more testable, understandable, and maintainable for the entire engineering team.

  • Partner with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to shape solutions, turning complex business problems into elegant, simple user experiences.

Who You Are (The Ideal Candidate):

  • A backend engineer with 3+ years of professional experience and a significant, non-negotiable focus on Laravel and PHP 7+ in a production environment with paying customers.

  • Proficient with MySQL and experienced in building testable, maintainable systems within a queue/job-centric architecture.

  • Product-Obsessed & Pragmatic: Your compass points to customer and business value. You view code as a means to an end, avoiding unnecessary abstraction while ensuring quality.

  • A systems thinker who can anticipate ripple effects in complex, interconnected platforms and explore non-obvious usage scenarios.

  • An exceptional written communicator with high empathy, crucial for thriving in our remote-first, Slack/Notion-based culture.

  • Self-motivated and able to make clear decisions amidst uncertainty, maintaining momentum without heavy oversight.

  • Experience with third-party API integration and data ingestion at scale is a major plus.
