Lead Digital Design for a High-Growth, AI-Powered Data Platform

Hex is on a mission to make everyone a data person. Our beautiful, flexible platform is loved by thousands of customers—including Ramp, Figma, and Anthropic—for its AI agentic superpowers and intuitive interface. Backed by over $100M from Sequoia, a16z, and Snowflake, we are a high-agency team that ships fast. We are seeking a Lead Web Designer to own the visual identity and user experience across all our web surfaces, shaping how the world discovers and understands a transformative data product.

The Role: Lead Web Designer

This is a senior individual contributor role with a clear path to management. You will be the creative owner of Hex’s entire web presence, including our marketing site, documentation, and future digital experiences. You will establish world-class visual systems, craft compelling launch campaigns, and drive the long-term web roadmap—balancing high-level creative direction with hands-on execution. Your work will directly influence brand perception, user acquisition, and narrative cohesion for a category-defining B2B SaaS company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and user experience for all Hex web surfaces (website, documentation, etc.), ensuring visual clarity, compelling storytelling, and brand consistency.

  • Own launch assets and campaign visuals in partnership with Marketing, translating major product moments into clear, engaging narratives.

  • Establish and maintain visual quality, design patterns, and a cohesive system across all digital experiences.

  • Drive the long-term web design roadmap, identifying opportunities for performance optimization, user clarity, and creative experimentation.

  • Partner closely with Product Design, Marketing, and Engineering teams (internal and external) to bring stories to life and ensure high-fidelity implementation.

  • This role is designed to grow; you will eventually hire, manage, and mentor a team, influencing the creative culture and processes of the broader Design organization.

Who You Are (Ideal Profile):

  • 8+ years of web/visual/UI design experience with an exceptional portfolio showcasing world-class craft, systems thinking, and compelling storytelling for technical or B2B audiences.

  • A master of UX, visual design, layout, and typography, with a sharp eye for consistency, micro-interactions, and illustration.

  • Deep experience designing marketing surfaces for product-led, B2B SaaS companies.

  • You understand how to collaborate with engineers and think fluently within HTML/CSS/React frameworks (coding skills not required, but technical understanding is essential).

  • A proactive owner who operates autonomously with a bias for velocity, capable of driving projects from concept to launch.

  • An excellent communicator who articulates design decisions with humility and clarity across all functions.

  • Energized by a mix of campaign work, long-term system building, and iterative optimization of a high-traffic site.

Why Join Hex:

  • Shape the front door to a platform used by leading tech companies to understand their data.

  • A salary range of $170,000 – $240,000, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

  • Join a well-funded, fast-moving team with a proven product-market fit and significant market opportunity.

  • Enjoy a high-agency culture that trusts you to own your domain and ship meaningful work.

  • Choose to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. or from our hubs in SF or NYC.
