Job Description: Senior Capital Projects Cost Estimator – Remote

Are you a skilled Cost Estimator with extensive experience in the energy and utilities sector? Pyrovio is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Cost Estimator to join our team remotely. This is a high-impact role where you will develop parametric and detailed estimates for major capital projects, directly influencing project planning and financial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project sponsors and stakeholders to define and understand project scope and deliverables.

  • Develop parametric estimates using advanced estimating tools, adhering to AACE Class standards for transmission and substation projects.

  • Create assembly-level detailed cost estimates based on 30-50% engineering design, utilizing proven templates and methodologies.

  • Improve and maintain parametric estimating tools—refining cost data, structuring enterprise estimating systems, and working with developers for seamless implementation.

  • Conduct estimates vs. actuals analysis to update and validate cost databases, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

  • Enhance coordination across estimating activities to eliminate overlaps, define ownership, and prevent scope duplication.

  • Train and mentor estimators on updated tools and standard work instructions to ensure consistency and quality.

  • Utilize specialized cost estimating software and follow rigorous QA/QC processes to ensure precision.

  • Attend client and internal meetings as required, offering expert insight on cost-related matters.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional cost estimating experience in design and construction, specifically within energy utilities or related civil projects.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and deep knowledge of AACE Cost Engineering Practices & TCM Framework.

  • Experience with parametric estimating tools and developing estimates for capital projects.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Enterprise Estimating Systems such as Sage.

  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.

  • Background in above/below grade civil estimating for utility-scale projects.
