Multiple Locations (Remote) – Becton Dickinson (BD), a leading global medical technology company, is seeking a Sr. Manager, Data Platform to join their Software Technology Solutions (STS) organization. This is a remote opportunity to lead a team in designing, building, and scaling their cloud data platform, playing a vital role in advancing the world of health.
As a hands-on leader, you will mentor and grow your engineering team, tackle challenging technical hurdles, and collaborate with various teams to guide the creation and consumption of data pipelines. Your expertise in AWS services, Go programming, API-first design, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) will be crucial in developing highly scalable and cost-efficient data processing services (both real-time and batch). You’ll champion best practices in software engineering, CI/CD, testing, and monitoring.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and manage a team of data platform engineers.
- Design and implement scalable cloud data platforms on AWS.
- Build real-time and batch data processing pipelines.
- Apply API-first design principles and Domain-Driven Design.
- Leverage serverless architecture for cost-effective solutions.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and ensure high-quality releases.
- Collaborate with product management and other cross-functional teams.
- Drive continuous improvement and modern cloud development practices.
- Monitor and optimize AWS resource usage.
- Attract, develop, and retain talented engineers.
What you’ll need:
- 10+ years of software development experience.
- 4+ years in a leadership or management role.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Proven experience with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, etc.).
- Strong proficiency in Go programming.
- Deep understanding of API-first development and DDD.
- Experience building high-availability, scalable data pipelines.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kinesis, Kafka).
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and monitoring.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
