Atlassian Seeks Data Engineer to Join Sydney Team (Remote Options)

Sydney, Australia – Atlassian, a leading provider of team collaboration and productivity software, is searching for a talented Data Engineer to join its growing Analytics & Data Science team. The position offers the flexibility of working remotely or from the company’s Sydney office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, a passion for building scalable data solutions, and a desire to contribute to a data-driven culture.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with data analysts and data scientists to build data solutions that support business decisions.
• Design and implement data models, data acquisition processes, and data applications.
• Add new data sources, code business rules, and produce new metrics.
• Serve as a data domain expert with a deep understanding of Atlassian’s products.
• Own problems end-to-end, working with potentially vague requirements and rapid iterations.
• Improve data quality by using and enhancing internal tools and frameworks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Experience designing data models for optimal storage and retrieval.
• Experience building scalable data pipelines using Spark (SparkSQL) with Airflow or similar tools.
• Experience with AWS data services or similar Apache projects (Spark, Flink, Hive, Kafka).
• Understanding of Data Engineering tools/frameworks and standards.
• Proficiency in modern software development practices (Agile, TDD, CI/CD).
