San Donato Milanese, Italy – Eniquantic, a joint venture between Eni and ITQuanta, is seeking a highly skilled Expert Optical Engineer to join their cutting-edge quantum computing team. This exciting opportunity offers a competitive salary and the chance to work on developing a full-stack quantum computer based on optically trapped neutral atoms.
About the Role:
As an Expert Optical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and building highly stable optical systems for integration into a neutral atom quantum computer. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing modular free-space and fiber-optic laser light systems.
- Creating high-resolution optical systems for generating microscopic optical potentials and fluorescence imaging of single atoms.
- Collaborating with the Quantum Engineering team on project definition and development.
- Coordinating work within the Optics Engineering team.
- Supporting the recruitment of new team members.
What You’ll Need:
- Master’s Degree in Physics or Engineering (other qualifications considered with significant experience).
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing compact free-space and/or high-stability fiber optic systems for high-tech sectors (e.g., aerospace).
- Proficiency in optical system simulation software.
- Experience designing high-resolution optical systems and spatial mode control techniques.
- Experience in quantum technology applications (preferred).
- Project management experience (preferred).
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent English skills.
- Willingness to travel.
