Washington, D.C. – Radio Free Asia (RFA) is seeking a skilled and motivated Digital Content Producer I to join its Lao Service in Washington, D.C. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to create engaging multimedia content that reaches a diverse audience in Laos and beyond.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling and a strong understanding of digital media. Responsibilities include writing, editing, and producing news articles, feature programs, and videos for RFA Lao’s website and app; translating stories into compelling video scripts; and managing audience-facing content.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality multimedia content, including news articles, feature programs, and videos.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate publication of content across RFA Lao’s digital platforms.
  • Track and analyze website traffic to identify trends and improve performance.
  • Translate written content into engaging video scripts, incorporating diverse visual elements.
  • Conduct research and gather information from various sources to support story development.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and senior editorial staff.
  • Manage audience-facing content, such as the RFA Lao homepage.
  • Generate original stories that resonate with the Lao population, reflecting their cultural and socio-economic diversity.
  • Contribute to multimedia projects, from ideation to production, using creative skills and new technologies.
  • Utilize production equipment to capture high-quality video footage.
  • Edit videos using Adobe Premiere and After Effects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, multimedia studies, or a related field.
  • At least one year of full-time experience in journalism or media production preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with content management systems (CMS).
  • Proficiency in video editing using Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and other graphics software.1
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current political, economic, and social conditions in Laos and the region.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in evaluating and presenting news.
  • Experience managing social media platforms for news or media outlets.
  • Native or near-native fluency in Lao and working proficiency in English.

Salary and Benefits:

RFA offers a competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience. The salary range for this position is $67,000-$75,000 per year.
