Workinvirtual.com is thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer with strong Python expertise to join Soda Data remotely. This is a pivotal role within a well-funded, European-based open-source startup that is rapidly gaining traction in the Data Observability and Data Testing space.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in enhancing and expanding Soda’s innovative Open Source (Soda Core) and Cloud (Soda Cloud) products. Collaborating closely with senior product leadership, including the CTO, and a talented team of Data, Backend, Frontend, and Full-stack engineers, you will take ownership of the implementation of significant features within our core offerings. Your deep understanding of Data Engineering principles will be invaluable in guiding the broader engineering team.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with users, customers, and the internal team to define and implement new features for Soda Cloud and Soda Core, addressing real-world data engineering challenges and shaping the product direction.
- Contribute to the scalability of Soda Cloud to handle billions of datasets.
- Design, develop, and maintain new Observability and Data Testing features directly within our open-source library.
- Implement internal tooling to streamline and enhance product development workflows.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in building data/ML products or cloud-based software.
- Deep understanding of software engineering best practices, including SOLID principles and design patterns.
- Strong proficiency in the Python Data Stack and excellent SQL skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of data warehouses, data lakes, pipeline testing, data mesh concepts, and broader data engineering principles.
- Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new concepts.
- Highly proactive, independent, and comfortable proposing new ideas, with the confidence to advocate for your convictions.
- Based in Europe and eligible to work within Europe.
- Strong interest in Data Quality, Data Observability, and Machine Learning.
Nice to Haves:
- Previous experience working on a Data Quality solution or a product specifically for Data Engineers.
- Familiarity with common data warehousing solutions.
- Basic knowledge of the Python Data Science stack, including Scikit Learn.
- Experience with GitOps practices.
- STEM degree from a reputable university.
