About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Systems Manager to join our Accounting team. In this critical role, you will play a key part in optimizing our financial systems and processes. You will lead projects to enhance reporting, automate accounting functions, and ensure data integrity across our platforms. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Lead projects focused on improving accounting processes and reporting, including the automation of journal entries and reconciliation processes.
- System Implementation: Collaborate with engineering teams to define accounting requirements, implement new financial systems, and develop comprehensive testing procedures.
- Cross-functional Partnership: Represent the Accounting team in product development initiatives, working closely with Commercial, Legal, Capital Markets, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of new features and functionalities.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze financial data from Affirm’s proprietary systems, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and ease of use for reporting purposes.
- Documentation & Controls: Develop and maintain robust system documentation to support financial controls and audits.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes, advocating for system enhancements and fixes to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Address system issues impacting reporting and reconciliation processes, providing timely solutions and support to accounting and finance teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in accounting, business analysis, financial systems implementation, and project management.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes (month-end close, automated accounting entries, reconciliations).
- Proven ability to analyze large datasets and extract meaningful insights using tools like Excel and SQL. Experience with data warehousing and analytical tools (e.g., Looker) is a plus.
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams on product development, with a solid understanding of software development methodologies (SDLC, Agile, Waterfall).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive consensus across teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
