The Cybersecurity Analyst will play a crucial role in safeguarding the organization’s information systems and data. This remote position requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat detection, and incident response. The analyst will monitor security systems, analyze potential threats, and implement security measures to protect against cyberattacks.
Responsibilities:
- Security Monitoring and Analysis:
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security tools for anomalies and potential threats.
- Analyze security logs and alerts to identify suspicious activity and potential security incidents.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in systems and applications.
- Incident Response:
- Participate in incident response activities, including investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery.
- Document security incidents and provide detailed reports on findings and remediation efforts.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of incident response plans.
- Threat Intelligence:
- Stay up-to-date on the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
- Research and analyze threat intelligence feeds to identify potential risks to the organization.
- Provide recommendations for mitigating identified threats.
- Security Compliance:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant security standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
- Participate in security audits and assessments.
- Help to develop and maintain security policies and procedures.
- Security Tool Management:
- Help to manage and maintain security tools and technologies.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new security solutions.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to address security concerns.
- Communicate security risks and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Provide security awareness training to employees.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a cybersecurity analyst role.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, concepts, and best practices.
- Experience with SIEM tools, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanning tools, and other security technologies.
- Knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and security architectures.
- Familiarity with common security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP) are a plus.
- Must reside within the United States.
