As a Backend Developer at Patchstack, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining our modern web-based PHP applications using the Laravel framework. You will contribute to a fast-paced startup where your input on the company’s direction and growth is valued. We are seeking a self-disciplined and solution-oriented professional with excellent communication skills who is eager to take on challenges and contribute beyond routine tasks.
What You Will Do:
- Develop and maintain web-based PHP applications using the Laravel framework.
- Refactor existing codebase to align with new standards and features (PHP 8).
- Implement comprehensive unit tests and create clear documentation for features and processes.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, providing regular updates on task progress.
What You Bring:
- Proven experience with PHP and the Laravel framework.
- Familiarity with code quality tools such as PHPCS and PHPStan.
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Proficiency in SQL and the ability to write efficient queries.
- Experience with SQL schema design and normalization principles.
- Understanding of MVC frameworks and Single Page Application (SPA) concepts.
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Ability to write clean, reusable, and secure code with a focus on performance.
- Fluent English language skills, both written and verbal.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Availability to work within the EEST timezone (+/- 2 hours).
Bonus Points For:
- Familiarity with Vue.js, NuxtJS, AWS, and Python.
- Previous experience as a developer in a remote team.
- Knowledge of WordPress and other PHP-based content management systems.
- Relevant industry certifications.
