Citizens Seeks Principal Full Stack Engineer for GenAI Platforms (Up to $193K + Bonus)

Charlotte, NC; Westwood, MA; Johnston, RI; Phoenix, AZ; Remote – Citizens is hiring a Principal Full Stack Software Engineer to build and scale its Generative AI platforms. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge financial technologies and enhance customer experience. The position is hybrid, based in Charlotte, NC, Westwood, MA, Johnston, RI, or Phoenix, AZ, with remote options available.

What You’ll Do:

As a key contributor, you will develop and maintain secure and scalable platforms and applications supporting Citizens’ GenAI initiatives. This includes building GenAI services and systems that connect complex data ecosystems and AI/ML models to solve real-world challenges. You will focus on GenAI platform capabilities like semantic search, prompt and tooling libraries, workflow management and orchestration, LLM gateways, and real-time/proactive response generation. Responsibilities also include developing API-driven microservices, automating processes, collaborating with data scientists and ML engineers, and establishing MLOps best practices. You’ll also provide technical leadership, define project roadmaps, and potentially lead a small team.

What You’ll Need:

• 7+ years in Python, Java, or similar languages
• 5+ years on cloud platforms (Azure/GCP/AWS)
• 3+ years building GenAI services and platforms (adapting models, RAG pipelines)
• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow)
• Experience building services with FastAPI/Flask/Django
• 7+ years working with backend data systems (Snowflake, Kafka), building data pipelines, and preparing datasets
• Experience with DevSecOps flows (Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Datadog, Prometheus)
• Experience writing libraries and tools
• 10 years in IT, with at least 2 years in cloud
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience); Master’s in Computer Science preferred
• Cloud provider certifications a plus

Compensation and Benefits:

Citizens offers a competitive salary, with a typical range of $160,000 – $193,000 per year, plus an opportunity for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay depends on factors like location, skills, and experience.
