Pakistan Minerals Development Corporation (PMDC)
PMDC, a state-owned enterprise under the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum Division, is seeking a seasoned Chief Geologist to lead its minerals exploration and development efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geology, extensive experience in the mining industry, and a proven track record of success in resource exploration and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exploration and Evaluation: Oversee geological field operations to identify and assess potential mineral deposits. Manage the process of resource estimation to determine the size, grade, and economic viability of mineral occurrences.
- Data Management: Ensure the proper collection, storage, and analysis of geological data to support decision-making.
- Geotechnical Studies: Conduct geotechnical assessments to evaluate the stability and integrity of mine structures, including tailings, waste dumps, and underground workings.
- Strategic Development: Contribute to the development of exploration strategies and targets based on geological interpretations and regional geological knowledge.
- Business Development: Participate in due diligence assessments for potential acquisitions, joint ventures, or investment opportunities.
- Reporting: Prepare technical reports, including feasibility studies, resource estimation reports, and geological interpretations, for internal use and regulatory compliance.
- Mentorship and Training: Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to junior geologists and technical staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in geological exploration and resource estimation.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and environmental standards related to mining and exploration.
Qualifications:
- Education: Masters degree in Geology or a relevant field from a HEC-recognized university.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of post-qualification relevant experience in the mining industry.
- Skills: Proven track record in leading minerals exploration functions, expertise in using latest techniques and software for exploration and evaluation, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
