Patchstack, a leading cybersecurity company specializing in open-source vulnerability detection and patching, is seeking a talented and passionate Backend Developer to join our fully remote, globally distributed team. If you possess strong expertise in PHP and Laravel, coupled with a keen interest in web security, we want to hear from you.

As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining modern web-based PHP applications that safeguard millions of web applications. You’ll work within a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment, collaborating with a team dedicated to enhancing web security.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain robust web-based PHP applications using the Laravel framework.
• Refactor and optimize existing code to align with evolving standards and features (PHP 8).
• Implement comprehensive unit tests and meticulously document features and processes.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members, providing clear and concise updates on task progress.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of our SaaS solutions for vulnerability detection and virtual patching.
• Contribute to the community bug bounty platform (Patchstack Alliance).

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in PHP and Laravel.
• Familiarity with code quality and analysis tools such as PHPCS and PHPStan.
• Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Expertise in SQL and the ability to write efficient database queries.
• Knowledge of SQL schema design and normalization.
• Understanding of MVC frameworks and Single Page Applications (SPAs).
• Proficient in version control using Git.
• Ability to write clean, reusable, and secure code.
• Strong focus on security and performance best practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Timezone: EEST (+/- 2 hours)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Vue.js, NuxtJS, AWS, and Python.
• Prior experience in remote team environments.
• Knowledge of WordPress and other PHP-based content management systems.
• Relevant industry certifications.
