GM Seeks Senior DevOps Engineer to Shape the Future of Transportation

Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Pontiac, Milford or Mountain View – January 28, 2025 – General Motors is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior DevOps Software Engineer to join their growing team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation software solutions that will revolutionize the automotive industry.

This remote position offers a competitive salary range of $152,100 – $232,900 (based on California Bay Area rates and subject to variation) and a comprehensive benefits package.

About the Role:

Software is transforming the automotive landscape, driving advancements in communication, security, and sustainability. GM is at the forefront of this revolution, developing cutting-edge solutions for commercial fleets ranging from small businesses to large enterprises.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports these solutions. You will work with the Azure cloud platform, leveraging technologies such as PIM, Microsoft Entra ID, FrontDoor, CosmoDB, and Azure B2C. You will design, implement, and automate CI/CD pipelines, ensuring seamless deployment and updates.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, automate, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for deployment
  • Manage Azure Kubernetes (AKS) using CI/CD
  • Automate cloud infrastructure changes using Terraform
  • Continuously evaluate and implement best practices for security and compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and provide support
  • Explore new technologies and contribute to the evolution of GM’s technology stack

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on DevOps experience with at least one public cloud provider (Azure preferred)
  • Experience with Terraform
  • Strong understanding of CS fundamentals, including OO concepts, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
  • Proficiency in Bash, PowerShell, Python, Go, or Groovy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in managing the Azure cloud platform
  • Strong customer focus
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Chef, or Ansible
  • Experience with CI/CD automation frameworks (GitHub/Azure DevOps)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Knowledge of network security (TLS, SAML, PKI, VPN, Firewalls, Zero Trust)
  • Experience with monitoring and log aggregation frameworks (Logstash, Splunk, DataDog, ElasticSearch, Kibana)
  • Deep understanding of Git and source control management tools (Bitbucket, GitHub)
